“Sustainable drugstore” sounds good.
But concretely, how do you decide that a product deserves its place at VOW rather than another?

With us, there is no magic formula or ecological perfection.
There is a clear method, applied to all products, without exception.

Our rule is simple:

Principle #1 — Products that are good for you

We don't pretend to know better than everyone else.
We rely on existing, recognized and understandable tools.

Why we use the Yuka score

In Belgium, Yuka is the best-known application for analyzing everyday products.
It is simple, accessible, and widely used.

All our products are first checked on Yuka.

And when a product is less well rated?

A lower score does not automatically mean a product is “bad”.

When a product obtains a lower Yuka score, we look why.
And we complete the analysis with INCI Beauty, an application more specialized in reading cosmetic ingredients.

INCI Beauty allows:

  • a more detailed analysis of the formulas

  • a detailed comparison between similar products

👉 This is why you will sometimes find products at VOW:

  • less well rated on Yuka

  • but completely acceptable according to INCI Beauty

And we accept it.

Principle #2 — Products that are better for the planet

A “good for the planet” product is never perfect.
At VOW, we especially wait a clear positive impact on at least one key environmental axis.

1. Consume more responsibly

We look first circularity :

  • refillable packaging

  • products designed to last

  • formats that reduce waste

This is why you find lots of rechargeable products at VOW.
Because the best waste is the one we don’t produce.

2. Reduce climate impact

Our priority goes to products:

  • made in Belgium

  • or in neighboring countries

For certain categories, like makeup, we expand to Europe when necessary.

Non-European products remain the exception, and only:

  • from recycling channels

  • or fair trade

3. Avoid unnecessary transport of water

Transporting water means transporting CO₂.

This is why we favor:

  • solid products

  • powders to dilute

  • concentrated formats

Less volume, less transport, less impact.

4. Preserve life on earth

Finally, we also act on biodiversity:

  • priority to products organic when it is relevant

  • vegan options available in all categories

Not as an obligation.
But like a possible choice, accessible.
